We're a multi-generational Friends village dedicated to the Quaker SPICES acronym (adjoining), affordable housing, the creative and performing arts, organic agriculture, and Christian peacemaking.
What's a long-term commitment? Life or at least two years. Consider the example of our century plant (adjoining). Following a sojourning period and acceptance as a member of the community, every adult is allotted an acre of land on the 68-acre community property to do with as they will for the common good.

We're passionately involved in all the pressing issues of a planet in need of healing: solidarity with immigrants, preserving our groundwater, a non-toxic food system, vibrant local communities, dismantling the carceral state, resisting US imperialism, and more. We're not living in the world and going to church. We're living in the embrace of the worldwide Quaker communion and going to the world. The Religious Society of Friends (or Quakers) was founded in England in the mid-1600's.Many Quakers fled to the Americas to avoid religious persecution.Friends have been at the forefront of every social change movement in US history. That list includes, from previous generations, slavery abolition and women's suffrage. Today it includes the anti-war movement, prison reform, and progressive education. In 1947, Quakers won the Nobel Peace Prize. Friends Service Council and American Friends Service Committee received the Prize on behalf of all Friends. "It is through silent assistance from the nameless to the nameless that they have worked to promote the fraternity between nations cited in the will of Alfred Nobel.”Friends in 2022 number 2,000 in Mexico and 80,000 in the US. Quakerism is increasingly a faith and practice of the Global South. Sixty percent of all Quakers worldwide (250,000) live in only four countries: Kenya, Burundi, Bolivia, and Guatemala.Below are some photos and short videos (all less than 6 minutes) from the QuakerSpeak youtube channel describing Quaker experience, expression, faith, practice, and community.
